Windows Vista Troubles

So how do I turn off the welcome centre coming up everytime? How can I also disable the 'are you sure you want to continue doing x' pop ups? And how do I unblock certain programs with Vista?

Sorry, complete noob at this, it's a friend's PC, been using XP forever.

The Welcome Center has a tick box in the bottom left for "show at startup".

For the continue promps, you need to disable UAC (search Google or these forums). This will also 'unblock' programs

Yep, UAC, but then you get a little box politely telling you that its not turned on.... its bearable, i love vista ... atm

You can disable the box telling you UAC is off too.
