I'm a bit puzzled!

I have completed an initial backup of all files and folders I require. As I understand it the backup is supposed to be incremental, adding only additional files or those that have changed to the backup archive. However, when the backup kicks in again, the process takes ages as it seems to want to backup files that have NOT changed and have been backed up previously.

I have looked through the backup archive and I am ending up with additional copies of files already in earler archives. Obviously this is wasting backup drive space and if it continues the spare capacity on the backup drive will run out, forcing a new initial backup again and continuing the cycle of the ever increasing backup archive.

All my locations that I wish to be backed up regularly are selected for properties only indexing.

This problem is driving me bananas. Does anyone have any ideas, or is Windows Vista backup just 'utter pants?'

I hope this makes sense.
