Hey,
I just tried to run an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
Before the install started I had to delete a folder called something like 'MyPrograms'.
It got several hours in, was close to finishing the install then I flicked back and it said something like, 'Upgrade Unsuccessful, restarting your old operating system'.
When it booted back in it gave no explanation, other than telling me to run the Windows upgrade advisor (which I had already done).
I am now tempted to wipe my PC and do a clean install, but don't want to get caught with my trousers down (and being forced to reload XP and spend ages tweaking it to get back to square one).
- Why might this have happened?
- Can I be fairly sure a clean install will work?
