Hi there,

I was wondering whether disabling the Webclient service improves network speed on Vista in the same way it does on XP.

Because whenever i installed an xp machine i always used to disable this service, and am wondering whether I should do the same on vista - whether it has the same sort of performance impact?

Thanks.

EDIT:

On the Windows Note:

Does Remote Desktop Client allow me to control another pc like TightVNC?

EDIT AGAIN:

I have just seen that the minimum requirement for Vista is 20GB. I have two partitions on my Hard-drive. The first is 14GB (Where is want to install vista) the other is over 200GB. Is it possible to install vista on that 14GB partition leaving the other partition intact and the data left alone?

Just tried it on a 13GB drive on VirtualBox and it seemed to survive.

This is with a really cut down vLited version, the image is just over 1GB. I've taken out practically everything as this is for a full-time HTPC using Media Portal.

Problem is that i don't know whether it has touched the other partition or not or whether Media Portal will actually run on my Vlited version.

Not bad though, Mem usage ~200MB idle.
