Windows vista/windows 7 partition questions

hi all

I've got a hard drive with vista installed (comes up as Drive C)
I've created another partition on the drive and I dish to install windows 7 on to it.

If I did do this would the new windows 7 installation automatically come up as DRIVE C?

How would my MBR be affected? Will it automatically rearrage to accomodate for the new installation?

will whichever you boot to be made drive C:?

I think it won't be

the vista (already there) will remain drive c
and I think windows 7 would make the default os drive d

I don't know if it will affect anything though

Installing 7 to the new partition and 7 will become C when in use, Vista will become C when in use. 7 will sort out the boot config for you.

Also consider creating a VHD file with your 7 disc instead of actually installing it.

thanks what does the last bit mean?

When you boot from the windows 7 disc you can create a .vhd file (virtual hard disk) set to a specific size. It expands when booted from, but when using vista, it will remain as one file.
