Ahoy,
I've only used Vista at work and now I've just built a PC I thought I would give Vista x64 a go. The only question I have is in regards to partitions. I have a 640gb hdd which I'd like to split into the following:
1 x 100gb for OS and all things that need to be on C drive.
1 x 270gb for applications (office, visual studio etc)
1 x 270gb for games and movies

My only worry is that Vista x64 has 2 program files folders; a x86 and x64. Are these folders special in any way? Can I install a non-x64 application to any drive / folder, or does it need to go into the x86 folder?

Cheers!

I run Vista 64 - as far as I can tell, they're not really special at all. 32-bit apps will install by default to the x86 folder and 64-bit apps to the x64, but you're free to install where you like. I install all my apps to one programs folder on another partition - works fine.
