Ok well I was using my computer earlier, was listening to some music, I fired up Trillian and then bang, Windows blue screened, got no idea of the message as it was on my screen for literally a matter of seconds, Ok I thought time for a restart.
I do a restart and nothing, I get all the post screens, Windows tried to load and then it just stops and goes blank. I grab my XP CD sling that in, in the hope that I can do a repair install. It got to the point where it said it was starting Windows, then goes blank and just locks up.
At this point I'm wondering if it's my new SATA 2 HDD (Maxtor) so I switch off disconnect that and try with just my pair or Samsung IDE drives connected. This gave me the same problem, so I try just one HDD, exactly the same problem again. And just for good measure I also tried with my external USB 2 HDD, and same problem. Tried with no hard drives connected, same problem.
I think I can rule out all four of my drives, because I was about to blame at least one of them. But giveb I get the sane problem with all four it can't be that.
This is either a motherboard fault or maybe a fault with my DVD drive, am just trying the DVD burner now, no hard drives connected at the moment.
Specs of PC are
Athlon 64 3200
Asrock Dual board
1 GIG OcUk Value RAM
ATI X800 GT PCIE GFX card.
This is really baffling me, it was working flawlessly all night, the only thing I installed different was Ground Control 2.
Ok with Windows XP CD in DVD burner, I get the same result, answers on a postcard please guys, I need my PC up and running this weekend, although I have a suspicion I won't have it running till the middle of next week.
