Windows wont load at all.....

Suprise suprise, im on here with a laptop problem again.

My mums HP laptop wont load. When you turn it on, HP screen comes up and then a list of ways to enter windows. Tried "last known good config" - just freezes when you select it. Tried safe mode and it looks like its gonna work (the drivers/dll's been loaded) but after 10 secs or so it goes back to the intial HP screen. Its a pretty new laptop (XP SP2), any ideas?

Use the recovery consle to repair that installation of windows.

Will have a hunt, but think she only has recovery CD and not a full XP CD.

The recovery CD includes an image of Windows, when used it will erase the current installation and copy over a factory install from the CD.

without deleting the data?
