Hi Folks,
I built a new rig yesterday, specs are
Gigabyte P35 DS3L
E2180 @ 3.1ghz
Ocuk 8800GTX slightly overclocked, UT3, HL2 and all worked fine with it (no artifacts and coreonly went to 70 degrees under load)
2GB Geil Ultra low latency ram
600w power supply (OCZ)
Seagate Barracuda 160gb sata drive.
Everything has been working fine, set up was complete yesterday, overclocking was done this morning + some gaming etc. I left the PC on to download windows updates (for XP home) and then installed them. I presume it then had to reset for the changes to take effect but I left the computer to install the updates and when I came back to it I had the black screen with the "Start windows normally" after an error message. The PC posts and gets to the point where windows should start but it just resets and starts again and goes back to the black screen!
I have put all the overclocks back to default speeds and it still does it. I'm not sure whether the HDD is broken but it still shows up in the BIOS along with my DVD-RW.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it? It can't be as simple as installing windows updates can it? Sureley it must be hardware related?
Many thanks
Matt
