Well all working fine yesterday and the machine shut down without a hitch. The only thing that was updates yesterday was Firefox and that was automatic - cheers Firefox, my OS will now not load

Tried 'last known good', safe mode etc etc but no joy.

It gets to the splash screen and after about 10 seconds or so it just reboots and loops.

Bloody thing, to make it worse if i want to try recovery console (not that it will work) or reload the OS I have to take my machine to bits and install a floppy drive which i dont currently have as it need to read the SATA HD driver from floppy. For some reason it wont read it from a USB floppy drive.

Any thoughts ?

Bloody bloody bloody.

reinstall with a floppy, then integrate the sata drivers on to the windows cd, for future easy.

Oh and I doubt it was FF fault your system stuffed up.

Slipstream the sata drivers with your install disc using nLite. If you have a working PC and the driver files you don't even need a floppy to do it. You can do it from within windows.

Sounds like you do need a repair install of some sort if you can't even make it to safe mode.

Try selective bootup (Like safemode) and don't load whatever you can get away with. If it tries to load something and freezes then thats prolly your problem. Its worth a shot.

Turns out my hard drive has died with al my data on it too :(

Am sending it away tomorrow to a data recovery company.

Am doing really well, my replacement drive is now foobared. Great...

Thankfully all my important data was backed up this time but getting proper peed off.
