Windows won't update? New build?

Hi guys

I have just formatted my mates machine and put XP service pack 2 on, everything installed without a hitch, except when I try to update windows I get this error from the website:

[Error number: 0x80070715]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

I have googled it but can't see anything? Plus the windows update symbol in control panel shows but doesn't have windows update under it? Just the symbol? WTF

Any idea's? I'm all out

nevermind I rebuilt it, it's fixed it

Probably nothing to do with this...but your windows date and time is set correctly yes?

I had a similar problem today after reinstalling and my windows date was all out.

Well I installed a new bios battery as I knew that was 6 - 7 years old

Date and time was correct after that, just didn't seem to wanna play ball, so I flattened the mother and it's updating away now
