Hi,

I'm wondering to some this may come as an obvious answer but need to be assured my self.

I'm currently now running with these specs now I have upgraded CPU

GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB
AMD Athlon II 250 3ghz
DDR 3 5gb 1066mhz
Running Windows 8 RC / Win7 32bit

Running these specs from a gaming prospect would I gain in speed running 64Bit other than the extra Ram would I see a greater benefit. if anyone can help please.

Thanks in advance.

Speed gains will be negligible for the vast majority of tasks. x86 is old tech, you should be running x64 for the memory addressing alone.

You will be able to run 32Bit apps on Windows x64. You are actually wasting 1 GB of RAM as 32-BIT Windows will only use 4GB of RAM while you have 5.

Rule of thumb,

If you have over 3.5Gb of RAM you NEED x64 if you have less stay x86 (no point in a format if you dont need to)

There will be no difference between x86 and x64 you will notice how some times it feels quicker as windows its self if threaded differently to make use of the extra processor options available to it.
