Is Windows XP 64bit as reliable as 32bit?

Reason I ask is, I used to run Windows XP 32bit but Installed Windows 7 64bit Beta on its release as a test.

I genuinely prefer the 32bit and the feel of XP.

But want the benifits of a 64bit OS (to use all my 4gb of ram etc)

Is Windows 64bit worth a shot? or am I going to be met with 100's of incompatible drivers and a sore head.

Thanks

It's just as reliable, yeah. You may have some compatibility issues depending on the age and obscurity of your hardware.

Having said that, how anyone could prefer the feel of XP to 7 is beyond me. 7 is a much more usable and advanced OS which shows XP up as the eight-year-old software that it is.

I have to say, I was hard pressed to give up XP, my laptop has vista Ultimate preloaded, but i still dual booted it with XP, I just did not like the start menu and was too stuck in my ways with knowing XP and its directories.

So I never really took to Vista, but having installed W7 64bit, i am well impressed with how easily im adapting to the taskbar and start menu, still a little messy for my taste but im getting there, and the performance is better, boots and shuts down much quicker that XP, plus now uses the Full 6gb of ram I now have :)

Just need a bit more time to get used to the new directories such as Users and the Homegroups is a gift to setup and share your basic moves/pics and docs...

For all the trouble with drivers you might get with XP, just take the leap and go Windows 7.... XP64 is a side step were as W7 is a leap ;)

Cheers for the replys chaps, I might give it a go.

Computer is pretty modern btw ;)

Core 2 Duo E8400
Abit IP35 Pro
Radeon 4870
etc..

I like some parts of Windows 7, but I find it too buggy. I don't like Windows Media Player 12 and you can't downgrade to 11, I can never get the 'Show what I'm listening to' to work properly in Windows Live Messenger

There is some weird bug with the recycle bin which sometimes means it takes 20mins for it to 'evaluate' how long its going to take to delete the file

There are other things that I've forgotten :o
Bahhh!

What beta version were you running, Ive not really tried the messenger app but had no problems with the recycle bin, and W7 runs great on my IP35 Pro... no driver problems there ;)
