Windows XP acting Like 98

Well when I shut down my computer its brings up the old widnows 98 screen thing

"it is now safe to turn off your computer" it still have the XP logo im seriuosly confused.

:confused:

I did install XP with an old upgrade disk but it has never ever ever done this before from that disk.

Any ideas?

It's a setting in your BIOS but I can't quite remember which one

Something about ACSI power manangement I think

Power Options

APM

Enable Advanced Power Management Support

That's assuming you've got the correct BIOS options enabled as in the above post. (ACPI/APM)

Its an "elite group" motherboard it doesnt supprise me thats its BIOS related :rolleyes:

Its now enables but I have two other options aswel

S1 and S3 :confused:

im so confused and I dont see it in windows power options.

You want S3; S1 won't fully stop all the fans etc. when you go in to standby.

Guess its either I stand there wilst I turn it off, or just dont turn it off.

Just do the latter- it knackers it turning it off too much anyway
