Windows XP Backup on Vista

Okay this is going to sound strange.

Basically before I migrated I backed up a ton of stuff on a tape drive. Obviously Vista doesn't support the recovery of this.

Anyway the time has come where I need to recover a few files and I wondered if anyone knew of any software that restore from a BKF file (if I have to pay then fine as I can do this under company expenses).

Believe the file format to be BKF.

Could you not install VM software (e.g. VMWare or Microsoft VirtualPC - both free) and then install XP on that?

Then you could just use the XP backup program to restore files from there

Veritas BackupExec 11.d works in Vista and will open and restore from NT BKF files.

There is a 30 day eval as well.

here you go. microsoft have a version of ntbackup especially for vista...

I didn't want to use Symantec Backup because of the SQL installation.
