My kids pc wont go past windows loading screen for some reason and I can not remember how to get the pc into safe mode to check for virus's ect can anyone help please?

F8 at bootup, also worth trying the windows defender offline tool: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline

Thanks Dano but its doing the same thing even from loading in safe mode it just freezes up on loading screen.

Use Dano's suggestion first.

If it doesn't work, backup data and perform a repair.

I have tried to do repair from the safe function menu but it does the same just stays on the windows loading screen, just like it does when tryign to get into safe mode.

Any more suggestions pls as my boys use the pc for their school work.

Edit:

One last thing its not the windows loading screen with the bar bit its the one after.
