Windows XP Installation Problem

Right, my friend has managed to completely riddle her laptop with viruses, and rather than remove them all I decided a re-installation of Windows was needed.

Anyway... the laptop has XP Pro installed, so I dug out my disc and set about doing a full format and re-install. But now I have hit a snag and need your help :)

39 minutes into the installation, it stops and I am given this error:

"The signature for Windows XP Professional Upgrade is invalid. The error code is 6ba.

The RPC Server is unavailable.

Fatal Error.

Setup failed to install the product catalogues. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information. "

I am now stumped. Google isn't much help, I've ran memtest and also WD Diag on the hard drive, everything passes.

She needs this back asap... so any help would be appreciated....

Thanks,

DK

I also thought this might be the case, but I have retried the installation after another format with 3 other XP Pro discs.
