Due to the old systems at my workplace we still use windows xp there.

Now in order to be able to work from home I log in remotely and I can't get the remote log on to work cause Win 8.1 doesn't have the xp mode details any more.

Is there anything out there to DL to enable this?

Can't seem to figure this out so - and somewhat reluctantly - I asked our IT Service desk at work, who claim there is no issue with logging in remotely with a Windows 8.1 OS PC......

So why doesn't it work for me?

I'm still looking for a emulator style software to put in to replace the offical microsoft one.

Or try to get my old Vista Laptop to work with this, which may be the better option I think

You need to give more information.

Have you asked the IT department to configure it for you?

No our It department won't help with our own PC's, they claim to have tested it and found it to work fine (bit intrested as to how, we have 0 Win 7, let alone Win 8.1 machines in our company)

I log in through a secure website, I have a GRAS FOB that generates a code, once on the site, I click to launch the Terminal Server to remote onto a server which then works basically like a cloub based PC - Vitual box as someone has mentioned.

However because of the systems and the lack of upgrade work done its all Windows XP based, so Win 8.1 doesn't have the functionality built in anymore to be compatiable for this to work.

I've gone to the Microsoft site and there is a DL there for it, however I can't figure out how to make it work for Win 8.1. There are some sites that say it's possiable but I can't understand how it works.

I've tried to follow this but can't seem to get it to work -> https://zeltser.com/how-to-get-a-windows-xp-mode-virtual-machine-on-windows/

Why are you so certain?
Is it definitely Citrix?

Its possible they tested with 32bit Windows 8 that can use VDM for compatibility with old XP and older software, currently there is no (official) 64bit VDM component for older software.

KIA - I'm so certain because I've been trying to get it to work for 2 weeks now, and every were I've googled says that Windows 8.1 isn't compatiable with the vitual server Windows Xp.

There are some work arounds and I'm trying to find them out
