couple of Questions if I may.

How is it practical to join a PC to an AD domain during setup if you haven't yet installed the network drivers for the LAN card?

I have a few laptops which are all the same, can I make a fully unattended install package with the drivers and that can connect to a domain? If so, how?

How do you name your PCs during the install phase when it asks for Owner and Organisation, and then later, Users.

Organisation I just put as the company name but for Owner I don't want the PC to be 'owned' by an individual if a few users use the same PC.

I think thats it for the mo.

Thank you

Some laptops will have NIC's that are already recognised by Windows so you can make them members during setup.

You need to look into unattend.txt which is the script for an unattended installation (the file name gives it away) its also called an answer file so you can setup things like Name / Company / etc.

Normally the name of the compuer is a mixture of the MAC address and the Name you gave in the Name / Company bit so it's always unique though you can specify that in the unattend.txt

Hi burnsy.

Thank you for the help so far. Can I ask some further questions.

Is WDS ok with XP Pro? I have configured it and it runs on the same machine as the server.

even though we are using XP Pro can I still use the boot image from a Vista DVD?

What software can I use to custom make an image to included network drivers and things.

:)
