Windows XP problem

Hi this has me a bit stumped

When I am browsing with either explorer or firefox it will regularly completely lock up but I still have free movement of the mouse cursor. However it is not able to click on anything. It stays like this until i press ctrl, alt and delete and then either shut one window down or just click the x in the top right corner.

It does not do it when playing games. I have run virus tests and ad aware tests.

Any ideas anyone?

unstable plug-ins? ecspecially media ones.

try re-installing it, making sure u fully remove it first along with all registry keys

Where will I find what it could be? Sorry to be a bit dumb.....

would love to help there, lol just re-install it, twas what i did when firefox played up on me, works fine now!

I only installed firefox today though for the first time

Problem has been happening for about one week now :confused:

Happens to me occasional.
Not much I can do to get out of it, apart fro hit the reset button.
