I currently have repaired my old pc with a new motherboard and have to reinstall windows, now the question is i only have my version of windows xp that i used on this pc. Would it be 'ok' to use this copy as a temporary installation? (the pc isnt going online*) Just so i can make sure everything is up and running fine after installing drivers etc..
Then is it possible to overwrite/reinstall over this copy with another copy of windows xp (different cd/authentication code) that would then be bought specifically for my old pc.
I'm just a little concerned as i wouldn't like to make microsoft lock me from microsoft/windows updates from it recognizing the same code on 2 pcs.
*The old pc will be connected to the internet after the new seperate copy of windows installation is up and running on it.
