Is there any way to get Windows xp to remember passwords to network shares? The "reconnect at logon" option is absolutely useless if it does not remember the password, i.e. reconnect.

Try this and see what happens.

1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.
2. In the left pane, click Manage your network passwords.
3. Click Add.
4. In the Log on to box, type the name of the computer on the network or the URL of the website that you want to access.
5. In the User name and Password boxes, type the user name and password that you use for that computer or website, and then click OK.

Probably can do it via the net use command with the persistant option - not something I've played about with in a very long time though. Most of the XP systems I've used in the past used a batch file in startup to login without having to re-enter password.
