I installed Windows onto a clean hard drive for use as a backup if my OS breaks. I have disconnected the drive but when when i startup my computer i have a choice between Windows XP and Windows XP. The first is on the clean drive so loading this obviously causes and error. The second is the one I use thats plugged in.

How do i turn the selection off as i dont need? Also in the future i may need it again or need to use the other OS but again without the selection of the 2

Thanks

Ignore ive done it. For anyone that want to know

Right click my comp, properties - advanced, startup and recovery settings. Change default OS and untick time to display boxes

the 2nd drive won't have the boot sector loaded now though

you should always install windows with only 1 drive connected

Right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Click on the "advanced" tab, the click on "settings" button under "startup and recovery" Where is says "Default OS", as yours is the second choice, click the drop down and select the second one. You can also set the time out to zero seconds, so it boots without pause.
