Hi guys,

Dad has some laptop with the tablet edition of xp, and when I go my network places there are not the normal options, like view workgroup computers and set up network e.t.c

I basically want to add the networked printer, BUT, when I go control panels > Printers > Add printer, then networked e.t.c it dosent find the printer like it does on the others.

I was wondering if it was because its not connected to the mshome network or somthing?

Go to Control Panel / Network Connections. Right-click the network connection you're using and click Properties in the context menu. Make sure the following two entries are in the list and have a tick box to the left:

Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks

If one or both are missing you'll need to install them. Click Install / Client / Client for Microsoft Networks, or Install / Service / File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.

After a reboot you'll hopefully then be able to add the networked printer.
