i've just got my pre order of win7 hp and will be upgrading later today but i have a problem, is there a way to move all my firefox stuff over

i currently when reinstalling windows copy the Mozilla folder from app data onto a flash drive and then just copy over when windows and firefox is reinstalled but when i installed win 7 rc i couldn't find where the folder is so at the mo i'm duel booting xp and win 7 rc but really want to run only win 7

hope it all makes sense :D

on XP..

start, run

%appdata%

copy the contents of the folder that's in mozilla\profiles (the folder has a weird random letters /numbers in it's name)

install firefox in w7, open it once, then close it.

start, run

%appdata%

go to the mozilla\profile\randomletter/numbners folder

paste your stuff in

good to go :)

thanks guys, that's great also means i can scrap vista on my laptop vista runs like a 2 legged dog on my lappy (c2d 2ghz, 3gb and nvidia 9300m gs)

thanks again guys :)

There is a much better way of dealing with this
Its called firefox portable http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

I have 3 different OS's on my system , on my I: drive I have installed firefox portable
It keeps all its bits n pieces in one directory , so I can use this version no matter which
OS I am currently running , it works the same on them all :-)

I just use the firefox profilemanager on all my machines to create a "user" with a directory on my NAS ... that way firefox on any machine comes up with the same data.

i will defo keep this in mind for when i get a NAS set-up but probley won't be till after xmas, is that a stand alone NAS or file server type of set-up?

"both"

... originally it was on an old PC that was left running all the time but win98 would crash every so often (I said it was an old PC!) so a couple of years ago I moved to a WD NAS .... also, power usage was another motivation from moving away from always on PC.

I just keep a copy of my profile on my website in a passworded 7z exe, so I download it when I need my profile again
