windows xp to windows 7

Hi all and Happy New Year.

Can i change my operating sytem from win xp to win 7 without to much of a ball ache? I recently bought a copy of windows 7 when i upgraded some components in my rig.

You could just upgrade from XP to 7 by running the disk for the most ease but a fresh install would be best. Also depends on what windows you're upgrading to, are they both 32-bit ?

Had a read through and it says i need a vista disc....i dont have or know anyone with this.

I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 home premium 64bit from Windows xp home 32 bit sp3.

You can't go 32 > 64 bit I'm afraid. The only option you have it to backup and do a clean install.

That sux a little. My HD is 4 years old so i might get a new one and start fresh with Win 7.
