Worth getting or not, never really bothered with them before but just noticed the little tray icon and wondered wether they are worth getting?

Most of them are I'd say.

If you are considering reinstalling XP/Vista anytime soon, think about using nLite/vLite to remove the rubbish from XP/Vista and integrate the RyanVM pack (XP only atm I think).

Of course they are.

Generally speaking anyway. Certain updates may not be applicable or useful to you, so you can skip them, but I would suggest getting all the updates, such as the security updates, unless a specific one causes an issue.

IIRC there was an update a while back that broke ActiveSync, and I needed to roll it back off the PC.

security patches (critical updates) - definitely. any others are completely up to you.

I believe the average length of time for a completely unpatched XP install to be attacked (and likely owned) is approx 20 minutes connected to the internet. I have heard of boxes being owned in the less than a second between the network becoming active and the sp2 firewall being brought up (albeit this is very unlikely and very unlucky)... so yes - security patches are very worthwhile ;)

thank you mister icraig :p

when i left they were trying to find pron on youtube
