Windows XP Updates?

I've had to revive an old Dell work machine running Win XP Pro. I've installed it with its original discs and drivers and I was hoping that MS would still provide all the updates till April when they stopped support, however MS Update isn't finding any.

Are there any updates available? If so, how would I update the machine as the normal method isn't working at the moment.

you should be able get all previous updates. are you waiting for automatic updates to kick or did you try it via the start menu which launches your browser?

if the XP disk wasn't at service pack 3, it might be worth manually installing that. you can check this by right clicking My computer and going to properties.

also updating the browser to IE8 might help as well.

Bingo! XP SP3 installed and now the first of 135 updates are downloading.
