Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello all,

I'm after a bit of advice regarding upgrading the OS. My auntie is still on Windows XP and wants to upgrade due to XP not being supported soon. I've suggested Windows 7 which is what I'm using. I've never used Windows 8 so don't know if it's going to be too different to what she is used to, she is not great with computers. I've seen that Overclockers are selling Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM for 73.99. Would it be ok buying OEM? I don't know what the difference is.

Many thanks

Iggy

OEM means that the licence follows the first system it is installed on, more specifically the motherboard.

So if you change the motherboard for upgrade purposes, the licence is lost. Retail removes this restriction.
