Haven't found this specifically answered anywhere on the internet! Hopefully I can find an answer here. ;)

I'm running XP x64 at the moment and would like to upgrade to Vista Ultimate x64. Now, I know I have to do a "clean install" to do this which involves booting from the upgrade DVD, but what I want to know is, once the install has verified I have a valid XP install on my hard disc, do I get the option to reformat?

all youll have to do is boot from your dvd.

then youll definately get the opertunity to reformat,
but you will need a genuine copy(cd) of windows to qualify for the upgrade, when it prompts you for it.

Vista upgrade doesn't work like XP, it doesn't prompt you to put a CD in to verify. You either boot from the OS you are upgrading from, or in a few cases you have to do what Microsoft are calling a "clean install" and boot from the DVD, let it confirm you have a valid OS installed and then continue with the install of Vista.

I just want to find out, from someone who has done this (so at the moment either OCuk staff but from monday hopefully more people) whether you get the option to format the hard disk after it has confirmed your OS is eligible for upgrade.
