you know when it says in the windows xp setup 'to load a scsi, or raid driver press f4'

Can you use a CD? or do you have to use a floppy.

I don't think it's possible.

Do you have a floppy drive?

The only way I think you could use a CD would be to slipstream the drivers onto a new Windows XP CD. There are many guides for this already on the net.

You need to download the f6 driver disk creator specifically for xp installation from the intel website (assuming it's an intel southbridge).

Or as said, download nlite and slipstream the driver.

ill look into it tomorrow, thanks for the help i will comment back with results. bed now :)

i do have a floppy disk, but the drivers dont fit on the disk...?

Because it must be INSTALLATION driver, not system one. It will definately fit, look for oemsetup.inf. And save just version for your CPU (not both, if available: for x86 and x64). Some vendors give an option to create a driver disk as a tool @ installation CDs.

nLite can help, too.

I dont know if anyone else has attempted this but some years back I got sick of drivers not fitting onto the xp cd so I sat there and thought "Why does it have to be a cd? will a dvd-r work?"

I managed to get xp sp2 slipstreamed with a host of drivers and a folder full of stuff I constantly used for installing onto a standard dvd-r disc. Forgot exactly how I did this. I do remember using an iso editing tool but forgot which one it was

That'll be nlite. Used for customising builds, slipstreaming drivers and service packs etc and making a new iso.
