Hey

Im building a new build and planning to reuse my HDD within it. Problem is, buying a new windows is out of my budget at the moment, so id Like to simply carry the Vista i got now onto the new build (Diff motherboard)

Is there anyway to keep my windows ?

Didnt get a CD.

And I know its better, I just cannot buy it. Ive got all the other bits for the PC ready, now only win is just an issue.

And uhm... well, I bought the PC, all I had to do is to power it on and when I switched it on, I could simply install Vista. Didnt need disc or anything, its like it was already inside.

Edit: Just checked sticker, OEMAct HP or something.

The current PC was bought from a local shop.

And I already bought new stuff for the system. Trust me, ive got other things to spend money on than spend another 90 quid on a Windows, although if it has to be done then it has to be done. Im just asking for a alternative way

Umm... Stoofa, Quit smoking w/e you are :D

I havent done anything yet, reading carefully helps yknow ;)

Edit: Hang on, so IF I did move the HDD to the other motherboard, even though the Windows is OEM, Will it still work but just be considered illegal? If so, why wont microsoft do something to prevent that ? I dont get it.
Anyhow, looks like ill have to buy a new win.
