Morning all:D

So my new pc is coming on friday(YAY)but i want to know:

Is it possible to run a complete Windows 7 gaming/converting/to a certain degree photoshop and editing computer with only freeware? Is it for instance possible to use Open Office with MS Office documents?

I know there a HUGE list of freeware as a sticky, and i know the bold ones listed there are named to be extremely good, but what are the necessary progs to use?

There aren't many legitimate ways to get free games, so you will likely have to spend some money there. There are lots of free file convertors out there, down to you to find what suits your needs really. GIMP is a popular free image editor. Some people say it is as good as Photoshop, but personally I would rather brush my teeth with wire wool than reduce myself to the GIMP.

OpenOffice should support all MS Office formats.

The gamingside of my question will be payed for lol,i already tried several free games and F2P MMO's but they ALL sucked.

Pc will be used mostly for converting and to a lesser degree some editing.
Other programs needed are Antivirus/Spyware removers/tweaks and so forth

So basically i want a full running, safe computer without paying for the programs i use. It's insane if you see that Nero/Norton/MS Office costs a lot of money, while there are tools that do the same stuff as good or even better and that are completely free
