Just seen the demo for this on steam. It was formal named crosswind but i assume they had some issues with the name and it seems like it got renamed

Looks like it may be worth a gander as its single and coop and gives pirate valheim vibes. Comically the demo has 4x the peak players than Skull and Bones ever did!

Demo's 20 gigs so think im going to give it a whirl and see if the foundations of something decent is there, but at the moment its seemingly being well received for a demo.

...yes... it has shanties in game too!

Wonder if it’s one of those build a base, unlock better stuff, build a better base type games that make the building kind of pointless in the first place.

Just tried the demo with a friend coop. Yes you build bases, fires, huts, workbenches. I think you essentially work your way up to building ships. We've not got to any kind of automation, but it looks like there might be a bunch, like Bellwright. Where you assign NPCs to jobs, they manage and grow the base for you. But it seems like it has been done well, you can build at workbecnches in the base and it auto uses resources from nearby storage containers and stuff, so it's pretty chill. It gives you a point to go out and grind a few mats, killing enemies for essentials.

It feels like BellWright and Valheim and POTC had a baby. Also the enemies are really tough, you really have to work on crafting and upgrading your gear, its like walking the wrong way early on in Fallout New Vegas and getting cut in half by a deathclaw, it doesn't look like there's level scaling, so you get your ass kicked and run away and come back stronger, quite good.

I've just spent a few hours playing it and its actually pretty reasonable. I just went to a different island and found the charging boars, they ragdolled me so hard  Combat is a bit brutal. It has a fair bit of potential!

The UI looks liked its ripped straight out of Soulmask, its like your playing Soulmask at times.

Its not too bad, decent enough foundation there but I think its going to need some sort of clearly defined USP because in what is a very saturated genre "its pirates" isnt going to be enough imo.

Installed it this evening when I got home and been playing it for for nearly 6 hours already, runs well especially for a pre release demo, no stutter or crashing. Crafting system is good, tough enemies but a couple of shots with the pistol will soften them up. It’s got a a lot of potential especially if they add pvp servers when the full game launches.

oh, pirates, count me in, as long as it doesn't require mp.

on a separate note, are the musicle vocals done by that guy who did the shanty song in lockdown, sounds very familiar!

Had a play around with a mate, only made it to the 2nd island so far.

Good fun, but on normal difficulty, the enemies don't mess around!

Completed the demo and really liked it. now sailing around listening to shanties :D Enemies hit luike trucks but thats good! Theres a good foundation here

For a demo this is great, no release date yet which kinda sucks! has a far more depth to it than Valheim which was a complete time sink so gonna look forward to this. 6hours play and still feeling very squishy, those dodo's are a menace when on low health.... :D

Well for a approx 7 hr demo it's pee'd all over skull and bones :D

Played it for an hour or so last night and it felt OK, nothing amazing. I think the biggest issue was as a Demo it's a bit disjointed as it gives a good tutorial to begin with but as soon as you get the "Kill a Boar" mission it falls apart as it's a huge jump in difficulty and causes a frustration point which isn't a good idea for enticing players to continue onwards. Friction points which are harsh should be avoided. I'll be intrigued to see how it develops though as there's definitely potential.
