Hi there, my windscreen has had a tiny tiny chip on it for a little while now & I finally thought I would get around to getting it repaired as I have fully comp insurance only to find out that because the chip is so small it cannot be repaired

The chip is in my (driver's) field of view but also it is barely noticable unless you are looking for it & even then it can take a while to find. If I leave it as it is, is this likely to cause an MOT failure?

My last car had 3 small chips in the drivers view and it passed no problems. I think they still have to be over a certain size before they are considered an mot failure. Have you been to autoglass or rac windscreens and confirmed they can't repair your chip?

Mine also has a chip in it and has been that way for a couple of years now.

Keep your eye out when you're around Halfords etc., I've seen a tent thing set up in the car park of a retail estate offering free repairs.

Auto glass called & said if it is smaller than the head of a match it cannot be repaired as the resin expands & would crack the glass making it worse than it originally was.

If they have to be of a certain size to be an mot fail I guess it should be ok as it is tiny.

i'd leave it tbh, it's not worth faffing around with insurance
if it's small enough not to notice, then it's fine.
it's only the big chips you have to fix, they soon spread to cracks along the whole windscreen..
