I'm planning on getting a spoiler for my Volvo.

It's an official Volvo spoiler, it's like a little lip that goes on the boot (Volvo S60) rather then like a full on spoiler, it comes as standard with the full sports version of the S60 so I know it'll be a good fit.

Anyway, the shop suggests using windscreen glue to fit it. Has anyone ever used this stuff before? Will it take the paint off?

As it's not a full sticking up spoiler just a lip that fits on, it'll have plenty of surface area to play with. I'm not sure if there is any type of glue I could use that wouldn't ruin the paint if I ever wanted to take it off again?

Edit: actually just seen another thing suggests using 3M double sided tape.

So long as you use genuine 3M tape (which is extremely strong) and make sure you remove all traces of polish /wax from the paintwork prior to fitting you’ll be fine.

I personally wouldn’t use windscreen glue.

My old e39 530i had a spare genuine BMW lip spoiler in the boot (came with the car) and it had 3M tape already applied to the underside.

Be sure to not drive the car for a good while ~ say leave it overnight ~ to allow the glue to bond properly.

Top man,I just watched a YouTube video that suggests doing the same.

Tiger seal would work. I've glued parts before with that and there's no way they will fall off.

But 3M will be ok as it won't be a functional spoiler. If it was then you'd have to also bolt it on.

Yea thanks for the tips guys, 3M tape seems to be the best option given the amount of surface area and the fact it isn't a functional spoiler.

ooi which specific 3M tape ?
I recently bought some genuine 3m vhb acrylic foam pads, which are not so cheap ... theres a lot of fake stuff on ebay, or people selling 3Metres of tape.

gorilla glue tape clear is good and works just as well if you cant get the 3M stuff, used no more nails foam tape as well, that's good but the gorilla tape worked better for me.

Tiger seal is extremely good, however you are never removing whatever you stick down with it.

For a spoiler lip 3M tape should be more than adequate. Clean the areas with 50-50 mix of water and isopropyl alcohol before sticking it down. Pretty sure 3M state to allow 72hrs for maximum adhesion however less than that is usually fine.

I used 3M tape for my S2000 lip spoilers multiple times with no issues. Spoiler was this one and didn't have any issues for the 30k miles I put on this one nor the 20k I put on my other :)

3M VHB will be perfect. Its what i used to attach the lip spoiler on my A4, never moved a millimetre even after being jetwashed.
