The screen on the other half's car needs replacing, do I need to get the car to somewhere indoors before calling the insurers to get a new screen?

Or will the call out guy not care if it's raining etc?

The Guy will have one of those cheapo Pagoda things to cover the front of your car.

Autoglass said that if I couldn't get the car under a reasonable amount of shelter and it was raining hard then they would have to re-schedule fitment. It did rain a bit but I parked the car close behind a large building that provided enough shelter. Don't forget you can't drive the car for at least an hour after a new windscreen has been fitted.
