Earlier in this thread I asked how to do this type of shot:

Well after many shots I think this is my favourite (and the only one I have processed so far.) Any comments on the image?

Hope you like.

Yep, like it. Straighten it up and crop it a bit and it'll look great. Did you do any shots portrait - I think it might look a bit better if you could see more of the neck of the glass?

Good first effort :)
Try and aim the liquid towards the edge of the glass more so it transfers up the other side and if you're lucky you might capture some separated drops.

Unfortuntately I haven't got any in portrait, although I'll reshot it tomorrow or Thursday.

I quite agree. Good shots mate! How did you get the white background? Simply just place something white behind the glass?

Yes I used a bit of A2 paper behind it and then used quick mask and highlighted the white and boosted the levels.

Aye I was aiming to get it like the sample image at the top. I'll have another go.

Thanks for all the postive comments so far. :)

How easy would it be to up the shutter speed? Don't be afraid to up the iso if needed, I'd imagine this sort of image would take noise reduction filtering pretty well. You're on to a winner here, nice one :)

The 30D flash sync is 1/250. For most of the shoot I was using 1/200 and 1/250. I doubt I could go any faster.

yep, definately getting better. like the way it runs up the inside of the glass and out again. lovely effect. i bet its going to be hard to achieve the single droplets but it will look stunning when you do.

I was using my mum's jug to pour water into the iron so I'll have a hunt about the house for something that might have a better spout.

You need to pour it faster/more quantity so a bigger spout is the way to go., try a higher shutter speed too, and shoot at 5FPS if you can.

I'll get my assistant to pour faster :) Can I really go above 1/250 with the flash? I was using 3 Fps as the flash couldn't really keep up and kept taking black pictures.

If you look at the original pic the glass must be tilted over as the liquid starts at the top centre and bends off to the left. In yours all the glasses are upright. Try tilting the glass and it may help you achieve the shot you are after if you are just trying to recreate the original.
