Hi all,

I don't really have any decent plonk shops around my end, and have been looking around at the various wine shops and 'clubs' online.

I'm not after fine wine, just a good selection of decent wine at reasonable prices. I don't know if any are better than others or if they're largely the same.

Do any of you guys buy your wine online?

Ta :)

what's a reasonable price?

My local supermarkets are a bit small and lacking choice, but I mostly don't bother with online, usually rely on the larger supermarkets which are further away - Sainsbury's or Marks & Spencer, and occasionally Waitrose. Mostly depends who has a good offer on, and stock of what I like. I would probably use the supermarkets' online services if I couldn't get to a store.

Right now, M&S are doing 20% off all Italian wines, and 10% off any 3 bottles of wine or champagne.

I buy all of my wine online from Berry Bros & Rudd now, every month or so. Any other odd bottles I might want in short notice, I'll pop into the local Waitrose as they have the best range of wines out of all the supermarkets, in my opinion.

Other online stores I have used in the past and recommend are Vintage Roots and Ocado.

I'm sure the OP said reasonable prices , that website you linked to the prices are just  7-10 of your finest English will get you a "decent" wine. Sure which did a survey recently proving such a thing :)

Thanks for the links I'll have a look.

Yeah, when I said reasonable prices I mean <£10 per bottle for a case. Any more than that and I'd rather spend the money on some decent Scotch :)

I get most of mine from Ocado. Decent enough selection for everyday drinking and if I don't order for a few weeks, they send me a 20% off voucher :)

BBR also a great bet.

EDIT: You can start off with £27.50 off £80.

Most wine clubs offer deals the first time you buy.

We bought a case of 12 bottles for £40, had a 50% off voucher so should've been £80.

Need to make sure you cancel after that if you don't want to carry on with them, as I would've been sent another full price case.

When I rang to cancel they were absolutely fine, I guess a lot of people only buy from them one.

Times Wine Club and Naked Wines are also alright.

depends whether you want to sign up to a plan or not..not every wine club requires you to do so.

I think the Times gets all their wines from laithwaites. I just order direct from them. We get a catalogue from them every month or so and just order a case or 2 when we need it..no plan required. I just means you get a wider choice then the usual supermarket line up. I use Majestic in the same way.

I did pay to join their premier club ( one off annual fee) as this gets me 2 extra bottles at no extra cost every time I order a case of 12..its doesnt take me long to get my 20 quids worth!

Wondering if anyone could recommend a nice vouvray wine, say unto £30. Thought I stick it in here rather than a new thread.

A bottle of Domaine du Clos Naudin, Moelleux or Demi-sec (medium sweet or medium dry), all fairly highly rated by Parker.

Does it have to be a Vouvray, or can it be another Loire Valley Chenin Blanc?

Thanks, yeah preferably vouvray.

I'm taking it 1991 was a bad year as the prices are far cheaper than 2005
