Hi
I am ultimately trying to get Half Life 2 running on Ubuntu Edgy.
So far Steam and HL1/TFC work great - no problems.
However HL2 won't start at all. Various web sites says it needs sound to run and that OSS is best.
So i though i would try and configure wine to use OSS (Edgy is already set to use OSS in Sound Preferences but this didn't seem to make any difference). Anyway, when i click on the 'Audio' tab in winecfg it crashes and i get this message:
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457
snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
Creating link /home/diss/.kde/socket-diss-desktop.
can't create mcop directory
I assume this is realted to the HL2 problem and if i can fix this maybe HL2 will work.
Any suggestions most welcome.
Many thanks
Diss
PS
Are there any commands that i can put in the "Launch Options" of steam? I tried this "+set s_driver oss" which is what i used for the Quake 4 demo but it didn't make any difference.
