i have had to get a new system because something on my previous one has died. as they dont sell any 754 motherboards and processors at overclockers any more i have decided to go for an amd 64 bit build. the mobo is a gigabyte s series socket am2 and the processor is an athlon 64 X2 dual core 3800+ 2.00GHz
i am running windows xp pro (32bit) and i also have a gig of RAM. the problem is when i load up the software for my tv card it runs fine for the first second then slows and loses sound until i switch through the modes the tv card offers back to digital freeview, then it has no problems. it also lags when im recording television too. any one have any suggestions as to what it might be and any remedies for it?

Have you installed the dual-core patches (AMD's driver, Microsoft's patch iirc)

It sounds like the card drivers are switching from core to core, and as each core runs at a slightly different rate (bit like a heartbeat - you get two pulses at the same speed, not one) switching cores can cause some programs to be confused. Installing the patches ensures that well-behaved programs use the system timer rather than the core time
