It was with these words that Cinemaware’s Wings entered the annals of the videogame industry and the hearts of gamers across the globe 22 years ago. Wings was more than just an action flight sim…it truly was a personal combat experience, reflecting all the drama, emotional involvement and brutality that WWI pilots went through in their (usually short) war experience. The emotional impact that Wings’ game playing experience had on gamers has never been quite replicated in the history of the industry.

Nah, just spend that money to back the already existing brilliant WW1 dogfight game Rise of Flight
Wings had its time and will never match RoF brilliance:

RoF team is about to release a new channel map with great new water physics and new WW1 seaplanes, ships, submarines etc - that's where your money should go

Top down bombing is possible in RoF - just turn on external view and aiming help marker. YOu can have unlimited bomb load as well (Of course you can also do it from inside the cockpit).
Wings was a 3d dogfighter as well (as 1st post your picture shows), and 3d dogfighting has much evolved since then - Red Baron, Warbirds, IL2 and now RoF/Il2:Cliffs of Dover...
