spec is
conroe 6600
8800 gts
bad axe 2
2 gig mem
250 gig hd

sorry for the long post but thought id explain properly

A quick Froogle revealed that your 600W Winpower goes for <£20 from most retailers. Generally, decent PSUs tend to cost over twice that, so I'm guessing Winpowers are like Q-Tecs: cheap crap with misleading wattage ratings representing their peak output capacity rather than their typical W output. Its real output is probably around 300W, and that'll be nowhere near enough to power your system, especially with that 8800 in there! You'd better take it back to the crook that sold it to you and get your money back, and pray that the only reason your system didn't power up was because it wasn't getting enough juice and not because your PSU decided to die and short out everything in its death throes.
Get a decent PSU, look to spend over £40 on it. OCZ, Antec, Enermax, Tagan etc are all good brands. I'm guessing 500W would be more than enough for your system, although I don't know the power requirements for the 8800GTS so you'd better wait for someone else to confirm that!:)

i did buy a dacent one a dark power pro 600 watt as i said it wouldnt power up on my old system ( see sig ) only prob is when i take it back tomorrow they will keep it for a day to test meanwhile im chompin at the bit to get the build done . if i cant build tomorrow i wont be able to build untill monday . and by then ill be insane

cheers

I've had a 400w Winpower for 2 years, very good PSU's for me!

Tho I'm no way in hell using a Winpower for my Conroe rig in 2 weeks, just to be on the safe side!

Ah, right, misread your post, thought the Winpower was the new one!:) I've never heard of the Dark Power brand but a shop-comparison search engine reveals it to be reassuringly expensive:p
I wouldn't even try using the Winpower in your system. Better play it safe!

yes deep down i knew it wouldnt be enough but i was desprate ive seen the light now im just gonna get another good psu while the dark power is being tested . if its faulty ill get my money back if not ill have a decent spare

cheers
