Having updated the WinSMP on my server (twin dual cored Xeon 2.8Ghz CPUs - hyperthreading disabled in BIOS, 4GB RAM) I'm seeing repetetive EUEs at exactly the same point in WUs.

Never had this before with the client running for a number of months quite successfully as a service.

termination log file says:
[05:08:53] Completed 295000 out of 500000 steps (59 percent)
[05:12:29] Gromacs cannot continue further.
[05:12:29] Going to send back what have done.

[05:12:30] ... Done.
[05:12:30] - Failed to delete work/wudata_04.sas
[05:12:30] - Failed to delete work/wudata_04.goe

[05:12:30] Folding@home Core Shutdown: EARLY_UNIT_END
[05:12:33] CoreStatus = 7B (123)
[05:12:33] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0x7b

And the startup for a new WU:
[12:36:52] Folding@Home Gromacs SMP Core
[12:36:52] Version 1.74 (March 10, 2007)
[12:36:52]
[12:36:52] Preparing to commence simulation
[12:36:52] - Ensuring status. Please wait.
[12:37:00] - Starting from initial work packet
[12:37:00]
[12:37:00] Project: 2608 (Run 0, Clone 210, Gen 23)

Anyone got any thoughts?

If I don't sort this soon, not only won't I get to stomp Polandro, but more worryingly I'll get stomped by my previous victims

I'd wipe the install and start afresh, try starting it from the command line instead of a service. I had loads of problems when I put the new WinSMP beta over the top of the old one.

It might not work in your case but its worth a try.

Yep I suspect a complete reinstall is the best option. But it does have to run as a service as I can't leave the server with a user logged in all the time for security.

Yep I meant just for testing, once its running in the command line ok you can ctrl+c it and then start it as a service checking with FAHMon

Things aren't looking too good. First attempt at a reinstall completely crashed the entire server after around 2 hours of running. Couldn't even log in to get the the shutdown server options :(

More likely something wrong with the server then?

Nooooooooo - don't say that :(

Actually after a reboot, it seems to actually now be running Ok for the last 16 hours. If I'm lucky it might complete an SMP WU in a few hours more. Fingers crossed.

Wohoo, It's sucessfully dumped a WU. Hopefully my plans for OcUK domination are now back on course - or perhaps that's just wishful thinking :p

This is a major pain in the backside. Seems to be OK for one WU, but then sooner or later it all grinds to a halt, taking the server with it.

It now seems that the antivirus software (Panda) is fighting off folding, with the antivirus working at 100% CPU. This could be the end of my borging activities :(

I had the same problem with Norton turned out to be autoupdate, switch it off and do it manually or give it a very low priority

hmm, but updating the a/v is far more crucial to the office than folding. a/v runs at a normal priority with folding low. That seems right to me.

Manual updating isn't really an option - I can't sit there nursemaiding the server, it's a small business and I'm not full time IT support (even though it feels like it).
