Winter preparations

Curious as to how many of you "get your car ready" for winter, and if so, what preparations or changes you make?

With the crazy winters we're having at the moment I'm seriously considering some spare wheels with winter tyres on for the car (Golf 1.8T).

I just do the standard things:

- Have a big ski jacket in the boot
- Have a torch in the glove box
- Phone charger in car
- Don't go out in stupid weather and let someone know where i'm going and when i'm likely to be back
- Drive very slowly and carefully when the conditions are bad.
- Up the concentration of my windscreen fluid so that it doesn't freeze
- Make sure my coolant is the right concentration to prevent freezing.
- Make sure all lights are working.
