Hi all

Can anyone kindly recommend a broker (website / shop / company) for winter sports insurance? I was going to go with my bank but I noticed it didn't cover mountain rescue, which I'd like covered.

Many thanks for your help :)

My missus works for a broker who deal with all sorts of insurances with various underwriters, if you're totally unsure go see a high-street broker to get an idea of what coverage you need and rough prices, then either buy through them (they'll have certain brokers they put certain things through) or hunt down a better deal online. You could also contact the underwriter yourself to cut a deal but quite often the high-street broker will have a better rate.

The most important thing is making sure you have the right coverage, most should offer comprehensive cover which will not include things like racing, off-peste etc!

Used both BMC and snowcard, depends on which winter sport/where/how long.

I got a quote from the BMC and it was horrendus. I'm sure the cheapest one was about £200-300, great if you're doing winter mountaineering but not if you're just skiing off piste!

Could always look into direct travel. We have claimed off them several times (for breaks and damaged kit - individually) and they were easy to deal with.
