Spanish Stoke that won La Liga two seasons back. He isn't playing in a bad team. Suarez was still banging them in for them.
So? That doesnt mean they arent a ridiculously defensive team who spend more time on the deck then on their feet. Athletico Madrid are a horrible team to watch.

Suarez played through the middle and is an elite forward, one of the best ever, and was a lot older, daft comparison.

Two long term targets that links never went away.

Doubt it but thats some window if that gets pulled off buts that 80m+ worth of talent.

Think it's obvious he wants a move to Newcastle but would Leicester take a chance in benching him because of refusal to sign a contract?

Is he injury prone?
His recent injury record isnt great, but half our squad has same issues, our fitness in general has gone down the drain during Rodgers reign.

Weghorst looks like a decent logical move compared to Felix. Felix is like something we would have done under Woodward.
Am in agreement. He offers a different option and will be happy to not play every match. It's a chance to cover Martial without him having another sulk. Statman Dave on Youtube picked out some good info on Weghorst and has convinced me he's a better option then Felix at least until the end of the season. Felix is a talent but he's not shown it at Atletico and thats a concern. Anyway apparently the deal is close with a loan fee of £2.5m.

The fee, reportedly, includes his wages and given that he's likely to be earning circa £5-6m in wages over that period, the balance being paid to Atletico isn't really that much.

Looks like most things are agreed, Besiktas are just sorting a replacement (Aboubakar apparently).

After the initial confusion around this signing, I'm hoping it may prove to be a pretty good one.

His numbers are not bad 1 in 3 at Emmen and Heracles, 1 in 2 at AZ and Wolfsburg as he started to get better service at better clubs.

1 in 18 at Burnley but you don't get many chances at Burnley. Back to 1 in 2 at Besiktas. May prove to be more shrewd than people think.

I struggle to believe he went to Chelsea vs United or Arsenal if thats true. Everything I heard suggested it was full covering of his wages + £11m they were after. I would be amazed if United went for Weghorst over Felix if the difference was a couple of million.

I've no idea if either Utd or Arsenal actually wanted him - it's not like Weghorst and Felix are similar players. I won't say I've read everything on the Felix deal but what I read suggested the fee included wages but who knows.

Quite glad Utd didn't bite on the Felix deal, paying over the odds for a loan move. Weghorst on the other hand provides ETH with another dimension of attack and apparently he presses a lot from the front which is positive news.

Depends if Baz is right or I am. I would imagine that the loan for Wout is circa £6m once you include his wages & loan fee. If Felix is 9-10m all inclusive I would say he is the better option.

Very different players as Baz says but I think Felix is better value for money.
