Winter Transfer window 24/25

I am surprised considering how well Bayern seem to be run that 3 of there top players could potentially leave for nothing in 6 months. I wonder if Arsenal will look at Sane with Saka being out for a while, fits the bill.

no use to us he couldnt join in jan only sign a pre contract unless we pay for him

I presume that it's a fairly standard clause in a footballer's contract that, if the club fails to register him, he is free to terminate his contract at will.
 
I doubt it's standard tbh, this sounds like a pretty unique situation. A pretty hilarious, unique situation. Luckily he's an academy player so I doubt he'll want to **** over Barca

Why? Literally the two most important things to a player on joining a club are (a) that they'll be paid, and (b) that they'll be eligible to play. I expect that there are express clauses making clear that the club will stand by both of those obligations but, even if not, I'd argue that (at least under UK law) a failure to meet either of these obligations is a rescissionary breach.

Well I'm not an expert on football contracts, and I doubt you are either. Can you think of any other player that has walked away when not registered without the club's approval?
 
Not sure how reliable the Independent newspaper is but reports suggest Rashford has turned down offers from Saudi. Rashford apparently feels moving to Saudi would hinder his chances of playing for England, and playing in premium competition

I think that depends on what you mean by expert. I'm not a sports lawyer, but am a lawyer (largely litigation) in sectors adjacent to sport (mostly media and entertainment), so know my way around a bit.

Edit: and no, but then I'm struggling to think of many high profile players who haven't been registered.

Well I've never heard of a player able to just walk away for a free if they aren't registered, I would have thought that would have been mentioned somewhere if it was the case.

And until Olmo, I've never heard of a player signed with a view to playing in the first team and then not being registered. So on that sample size, we're at 100% being able to leave for free.

Unless he has completely checkout out and has zero ambition to play for England again he won't go to the Middle-East. Hes 27 and thats the sort of move you make when you are in your 30s and just want a final paycheque.

I was surprised when Ivan Toney went to Saudi given he just broken into the England set up and had interest from quite a few prem clubs.
 
Toney is a little different given he hasnt really been earnt any money as he was playing in the lower leagues for the bulk of his career, unlike Rashford who has been a big earner for the best part of a decade.
