Got offered some part worn Michelin Pilot Alpin pa2 5mm tread all round never had a puncture. 215 45 17 for the Type R for £140

Does it sound like a good deal with that amount of tread depth left. The way im looking at it is anything must be better than my summer tyres with 4mm left on them.
Was looking at the price of new winter tyres and your looking at £600 fitted

Yeh £140 for all four. I know the car they came off, he sold the car during summer and forgot he had them in storage. Told me none has had a puncture. I would not trust tyres from an unknown source either.

Seems like a good deal unless there is some other winter tyres that can be had for around 60 a tyres but think that's impossible in the Type R sizes

Heh I thought about trying to get away with 2 tyres as well but when reading up the big answer was dont be stupid :D

From what I found it came originally with 8.73 millimetres not 10mm. However to put this in perspective im currently running summer bridgestones with 3.5mm of tread and these were bad enough last year when they had more tread.
So surely for the price they are worth a go even for the better grip and so on in light snow slush etc

Obviously for deep snow it would be better to have the full tread but we are talking about £140 vs £600
