winxp icon background

Hi,
My dad's been messing with his pc( he says he hasn't) and now all the desktop icons have a blue background on them no matter which background picture we put on.

anyone any idea how to solve this?

Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok.

unfortunatly that's not the fix for me, it was already selected so i've tried unselecting it and selecting it.

Turn off web desktop.
